ENVIS 2023 ratifies the desire to meet and dialogue in La Araucanía

Willingness to meet among diverse people to build the foundations of a new coexistence is what was seen this Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the National Social Linking Meeting #ENVIS2023, held in the town of Melipeuco, in La Araucanía. The meeting had a massive participation that exceeded 1,300 people, from more than 130 communes in the country and from all areas of society, who gathered to discuss from the region.

Representatives of indigenous communities, civil authorities, social leaders, entrepreneurs, businessmen, union leaders, among them, the former Minister of Social Development, Alfredo Moreno; the president of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), Ricardo Mewes; the Governor of La Araucanía, Luciano Rivas; the presidential delegate of La Araucanía, José Montalva; the Governor of the Metropolitan Region, Claudio Orrego; the Mayor of Providencia, Evelyn Matthei; the former Minister of Social Development, Karla Rubilar and the Lonko of the Mapuche community Andrés Calbuñir, Hernán Calbuñir, among others.

The National Social Bonding Meeting is a meeting and bonding space for Chile, built from the people, which brings together more than 1,500 people annually. It is a space for dialogue and trust, which brings together unlikely peers with the aim of strengthening the social fabric of the country and moving towards decision-making around crucial issues for the country's development. In each ENVIS the main findings are collected and reflected in a document that is available to participants and authorities.

Sebastián Salinas, founder and executive director of Balloon Latam, assured that “being here has an important meaning as it is an example of inspiration for the country in terms of willingness for dialogue and diversity. Today we have a multiplicity of actors participating in more than 135 dialogue tables that here, in the Araucanía region, show us that people do want to participate, they do want to dialogue, and this is a reflection of what we need to build a better society".

For his part, Camilo Herrera, executive director of the 3xi corporation, pointed out that “the experience we have lived today has strongly shown us that the will to meet exists and that, through mutual recognition, we can aspire to another Araucanía and another country. where we can rebuild trust and dialogue from what unites us.''

The #ENVIS2023 chose Melipeuco as the venue for this edition to highlight the region of La Araucanía and its rurality as an area where dialogue and encounter also flourish, within the framework of its cultural wealth and biodiversity, which have transformed it into a center of economic development that also houses a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.
